1. Is it hard for you to think of yourself as a "bruised reed"? Do you agree that we are all "bruised reeds"? How so?
2. With which of the two images of v. 20 ("bruised reed" and "smoldering wick") do you most identify? What is it about that image that you relate to?
3. Do you think God himself ever "bruises" us? Why might he do that?
4. What is it about the truth about Jesus in v. 20 that should produce hope is us? What exactly is the connection between this character of Jesus and hope? |
