"Why Do You Speak to Them in Parables?" - Matthew 13:10-17

  • 1. How are your eyes and ears functioning? How are they serving as gates to your heart whereby truth and beauty can get to and resonate in your heart? Where and how is this happening in your life?

  • 2. Do you feel like your life is increasingly marked by the "abundance" Jesus speaks of in v. 12 (and alludes to in vv. 16-17)? If not, why not? Is there some condition of your heart that might be diminishing the ability of your eyes and ears to serve this way? If so, what is it?

  • 3. How are you tempted to react when you see people being indifferent or resistant to the message about Jesus? What conclusions are you tempted to draw? Are these the right conclusions? What effect does a lack of responsiveness have on your willingness to keep sharing the gospel with people?

  • 4. How often do you reflect on the wonder of your salvation? Do you do this just when things are introduced into your mind or is there a regular, purposeful reflecting? If you were to be purposeful about this what might that look like? Where would you go to feed and fuel that reflection?
