Sermon Application Questions - 3/21/10
"Again, The Kingdom of Heaven is Like . . ." - Matthew 13:44-50
"Having Christ as your greatest treasure and joy is worth not having something else as your greatest treasure and joy."
1. Let's get right to the most obvious and the most important question. Is Christ your greatest treasure? Take some time to think about what you actually have in Christ that really does make him your greatest treasure.
2. What was your "treasure" before you came to Christ? How did it occupy you?
3. Does what you named in Question #2 still tempt you? Or is there another alternative "treasure" that has appeared that catches your eye?
4. How could you go about becoming more persuaded that having Christ really is the greatest treasure? How might your conviction of this be strengthened and deepened?
5. What biblical truth would be useful in helping unmask the deception of alternative "treasures"?
6. "Alternatives to Christ as the source of your greatest joy are actually joy-stealers in the end." How is that true?
Note to Care Group Leaders using Sermon Application Questions: Any feedback? Does it help to have more questions to work from or is having more questions potentially overwhelming and just having 2-3 questions is better? I'm grateful for any feedback you have. |
