What Will It Take For You To Believe? - Matthew 16:1-12

1.  Think back to the time of your coming to faith in Christ.  Was the good news about Jesus enough to believe or did you struggle with wanting something more?  What kind of thing, in addition to the good news about who Jesus is and what Jesus has done, might you have been tempted to want to help you believe?

2.  The way God presented Jesus to the people living in Israel in the first century and the way God presents "who Jesus is and what Jesus has done" to us is very different.  Do you feel like one has advantage over the other?  Do you ever find yourself thinking, "If I had been there back then it would have been easier to believe"?  Does the New Testament account support that?

3.  Have you ever asked God for a "sign"?  Does the Bible encourage or discourage us regarding asking for signs?  What possible postures of heart might be behind asking for a sign?

4.  In CrossWay's statement of Defining Values it says: "We are convinced the Bible is completely sufficient to guide us in all areas related to our personal faith and the life of the church."  Does that seem accurate to you?   Is God's Word really sufficient to guide us in all areas related to our Christian life?
