Introduction

History: God started calling me (Paul) in 1979 during my second year in high school immediately after accepting Jesus Christ as my Savior and Lord. One day, I found myself emotionally moved as a result of seeing an older church elder who was illiterate, struggle with preaching during a Sunday worship service at my local church.
After completing my fourth year in high school, many church leaders had recognized my call to the ministry. Some asked me to consider joining a Bible college. I resisted the call at the time and joined Advanced Level High School to prepare to enter university for a degree in medicine. However, after completing the Advanced Level Certificate, the Lord clearly directed me to Scott Theological College where I received four years of pastoral training. After graduating with a Bachelor of Theology degree in March 1988, I worked as a pastor for almost five years.
In 1993 the Lord opened an opportunity for me to come to the USA with my family. Through God’s grace I completed a Master of Arts in Religion at Gordon Conwell Theological Seminary in 1997. In May 2004, I completed a PhD in Theological Studies at Trinity International University. In addition to supporting me and being a mother to three boys, Rodah completed a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration at Colombia College – Missouri, and is currently working toward her MBA in Human Resource Management from Daystar University in Nairobi.
Place of Service: We live between Machakos, Kenya where Scott Theological College is located and the capitol city of Nairobi. I work as the Deputy Principal of Academic Affairs at Scott Theological College. The weather and the view around Scott is one of the best in the Machakos district.
But the realities of Africa are:
* Church: It is characterized by divisions and a plethora of “prosperity gospel” churches.
* Poverty: 60%+ struggle to meet basic needs.
* Corruption: The gap between rich and poor is one of the greatest in the world.
* AIDS: Produces thousands of widows and orphans.
* Healthcare: Most cannot afford any.
* Tribalism: Results in nepotism, ethnic tensions and intertribal wars.
* Islam: Spreading rapidly even to small towns.
* Syncretism: The mixing of traditional beliefs and practices with Christianity is wide spread.
Purpose and Vision: My main job is to ensure quality training, facilitate educational growth, and guard academic integrity in keeping with the mission of Scott Theological College and the requirements of the Commission of High Education – Kenya. I also conduct leadership seminars nationwide that provide church leaders with Christ-centered theological training and resources in the areas of biblical preaching, leadership and management.
The key verses for my ministry are: “And the things which you have heard from me, (the truth of the gospel), in the presence of many witnesses, these entrust to faithful men, who will be able to teach others also” (2Timothy 2:2), so the church may “become mature” and “no longer blown here and there by every wind of false doctrine” (Ephesians 4: 11-16).
