CrossWay Scripture Memory Program
The CrossWay Scripture Memory Program is designed to help everyone at CrossWay to memorize the Word of God. Each year we are committed to memorizing 25 passages of Scripture together as a church. Our goal is to memorize 100 passages over four years. Memorizing as a church allows us to benefit from the encouragement and practical help of others. It also creates opportunities to remind one another of Biblical truth and share stories of how God is using these truths in our lives. Why Memorize the Bible? We do this because we are absolutely committed to, not just the authority and the truthfulness of God's Word, but also its usefulness in our lives. We need God to speak to us through His Word, to strengthen our faith and minister His grace to the specific situations of our lives. God's Word initiates faith (Romans 10:17); it gives new spiritual life (1 Peter 1:23); provides food for our souls (Deuteronomy 8:3). God sanctifies us (John 17:17) and helps us grow by His Word (1 Peter 2:2). One of the most effective ways this happens is through Scripture memory. The very process of memorizing helps us to meditate on God's Word. It forces us to slow down and think more deeply about a passage, increasing our understanding. The Holy Spirit then brings these passages to mind and uses them to minister God's grace to us, helping us apply Scripture in situations where we may not have ready access to a Bible. |
